Prof. Dangxiao Wang works on machine haptics, human haptics, brain-computer interaction, virtual reality and medical rehabilitation robotics. He serves as Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems.

Biography
Prof. Dangxiao Wang was born in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. He is a Professor and PhD supervisor at Beihang University and serves as Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems. He received his PhD from Beihang University in April 2004, completed postdoctoral research at Beihang in April 2006, and was appointed Professor in August 2016.
He served as General Chair of AsiaHaptics 2020, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Haptics, and Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Haptics Executive Committee (2014-2017). He is Vice Chair of the Technical Committee on Force/Tactile Perception and Interaction of the China Instrument and Control Society, and Vice Chair of the Technical Committee on Human-Computer Interaction of the China Computer Federation (CCF). He is a Senior Member of IEEE, CCF and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society.
He was selected for the Beihang "Blue Sky New Talent" program in 2007 and the Beijing "New Star of Science and Technology" program in 2008. He was a visiting scholar at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (2012-2013), Karolinska Institutet, Sweden (2017), and Stanford University, USA (2018-2019), all under China Scholarship Council sponsorship.
His research focuses on machine haptics, human haptics, brain-computer interaction and medical rehabilitation robotics. He has received the First Prize of the Technological Invention Award of the Ministry of Education (third contributor) and the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Chinese Institute of Electronics (third contributor).

His work has been recognized with the Best Manipulation Paper Award Finalist at IEEE ICRA 2011, the Best Paper Nomination at EuroHaptics 2016, the Best Paper Award at CHCI 2020, and the Best Paper Honorable Mention at the IEEE World Haptics Conference 2023 (the first Chinese scholar to be recognized in the 18-year history of the conference).
