Biography
Yuru Zhang is the founding director of human-machine interaction laboratory, which focuses on haptic interaction for virtual reality and robotics. With the funding of the National Science Foundation of China and the National High-Tech Program, her group has developed the first prototype of haptic enhanced simulation system for dental training in China. She has led the development of NeuroMaster, the first robotic surgical system for stereotactic neurosurgery which has been successfully applied to more than 50 clinical trials including the first remote trial in China.

Yuru Zhang has published over 100 technical papers and holds 4 issued patents and 4 pending patents. She is the author of a book on robotic dexterous hands funded by the National Science Foundation of China. She is a regular reviewer of project proposals for the National Science Foundation of China and other government funding programs. She has been serving as reviewers for several IEEE, ASME and IFToMM journals.
